Our Commitment to Equity and Openess

All of our work in 2025 is established in the 2025 Full year Work mandate that outlines the provisions of our membership as determined in the Annual General Meeting. Adopted at a vote of 32-0, we are excited to carry out the openly-debated policy for our community.

All of our members are able to participate in our work through our Annual General Meeting and various representative opportunities throughout the year. Our AGM Recap posts are on our social media and projects feature.

Our Continuing Story

Est. 2022

Our Community was founded by a group of passionate students from across the lower mainland, Leo Chen and Jane Lee: our team has since grown to encapsulate our passions, projects, and ideas that sprung up across the year.

Our founding goal was to offer an opportunity to students to explore the other effects of art as a medium for change through projects, events, and engagement with our community. There has been a noticeable lack of communication between students, communities, and the wider Vancouver region in cultural differences that has clashed throughout the turmulent pandemic of the 2020-2022. We have since worked on murals as a means to capture the community and in attempt to foster understanding and loe.

In 2022, we have officially been registered as a Legal Society under British Columbia, establishing our status as a nonprofit with the interests of our members at the forefront.

In 2023, we have explored larger projects and initiatives. Throughout our murals, art workshops, and projects, we have explored how ART can be to service our community.  In September, we have formed the first AOOC club as a community that works with students, for students. Additionally, we started working on the first AOOC programmes such as the Ambassador Programme 2023-2024 as well as the 2023-2024 Fundraising Programme that has since raised well over $5400+

In 2024, we have launched some of our largest fundraising team and the first official executive committee that has since professionally handled the organization's work. Our Summer Fundraisers and Spring Fundraisers has raised well over $16500+ over the year in revenue alone, and our teams has since launched over 60+ workshops, events, and meetings with and for our members through clubs and HQ. Our operations has since then significantly expanded and our work at HQ has continued to support our wider membership.

In 2025, at the adoption of the Art Of Our Community 2025 Mandate, we are thankful to move onto the next chapter of our continuing journey to Art in Our Community! Consider exploring our projects to find out what we have to say about our story for this year. Explore our Clubs who has been a critical part of our story. But more importantly, find out how YOU can support your community through your involvement in our fun community!
